Ms Violet Njambi

Ms Violet Njambi has a Certificate Course in Environmental Journalism and Communication from Daystar University, a Certificate Course in Environmental Engineering (Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a Diploma in Environmental Science from Mombasa Polytechnic University College). She worked with many marine institutions situated in Mombasa, Kenya, and has been actively involved with schools, women, and fisher groups on a range of issues. She is experienced in stakeholder consultation processes, socio-economic studies and has been part of the DLIST ASCLME field team at the demonstration site located at the Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach, Mombasa. She manages the EcoAfrica office in Mombasa and worked on the marine and coastal project on sustainable tourism that includes several countries in East and West Africa. Violet was the Project Coordinator of the COAST Project in Kenya and Tanzania which included identifying best practices for coastal tourism and stakeholder engagement with various tourism organisations/associations for Watamu in Kenya and for Bagamoyo in Tanzania demonstration sites.

Previously, in 2009, she joined Coastal Oceans Research and Development – Indian Ocean (CORDIO) East Africa, an NGO involved in coral reef management, fish monitoring and livelihood projects for communities that are mainly dependant on marine resources. While working with CORDIO, she successfully implemented training for women and has actively worked in the field of ICT at the local community level.
