Ms Marinda le Roux has a Masters degree in Town and Regional Planning (MTRP) from the University of the Free State in South Africa, and is a registered Town and Regional Planner. She is also registered with the Interim Certification Board of Environmental Assessment Practitioners of South Africa (EAPSA), and in the 20+ years of practice as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner, she has gained extensive experience in Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), environmental management consulting, local community development, participatory planning, and process facilitation. Marinda has managed an array of environmental assessment and integrated management plan projects throughout the years with application of environmental legislation and laws. One such a project was the EIA for ESKOM’s proposed new 400kV transmission power line (260km) between Mossel Bay, George and Beaufort West the Eastern and Western Cape in South Africa. This project has particular relevance to the Cape Floral Region Protected Areas World Heritage Site (CFRPA WHS), as it has included an assessment of the potential impact on the Swartberg Mountain Reserve Complex, and intensive Public Participation with land owners, farmers and various stakeholders during two sessions of road shows. Discussions were held with officials from Cape Nature along the route. Marinda has been involved in various environmental management consultations, environmental and project management and has worked in several African countries, including Mozambique, Uganda and South Africa. Her professional skills include strategic environmental assessment, integrated planning, monitoring and evaluation, peer review and report writing.
